About us

Love of Jesus Family Church of Newark is a non-denominational Christian church that operates by the power of the holy spirit.  Our Lead/Head Pastor founded the church

right after she was ordained as a pastor on December 29, 1991.

Our church held services at the Leaguers on Clinton Avenue in Newark until we moved into our building at 88-94 Boylan St. in Newark.

We have over 30 ministries in our house under Love of Jesus Family Church, Young Disiples Ministry and Young Disciples Community Development Corp.

A list of all of our ministires will be posted soon.

Lead Pastor

Barbara Glanton accepted Jesus Christ into her heart on October 15, 1984.  About two years later she said yes to the call by God and started the Young Disciples Ministries on March 25, 1986. She was later ordained a Pastor on December 29, 1991 and later ordained a Bishop on June 30, 2013 by her pastor, Jason Alvarez.

Bishop Barbara Glanton has a church, ministry and community development corporation all held at our  Boylan Street location in Newark, NJ, including over 21 outreach ministries.

Bishop Barbara Glanton during most of our services to our congregation of 200+ and our virtual YouTube followers all across the country .

Bishop Barbara Glanton served as a Board member for Family Intervention Service for four years, a non-profit organization committed to strengthen families and promoting the safety and well being of children. She has received several awards, such as the Irvington Rotary Club, (in which she was the first recipient to receive this award), Urban League Guild of Essex County, the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc Citation Award for Christian Leadership and the Eagles Excellence Award for the international awards (preaching the gospel outside the United States), and the Trailblazer award and the visionary award.

It is because of her labor of love for people and winning souls for the kingdom of God that she continues to reach out into the community.

Outside of her ministerial functions, she is the proud mother of Cyrenthia Burgess; grandmother of Aneesah Glanton, Quianna Camper and Keith Burgess; and great grandmother of Johnae Dawson, Taree Dawson, Sanai Burgess and Kairo Burgess.

Assistant Pastor

From the wrong path to the right path, once was blind and now able to see. A husband, father,  reverend and President at Putting Things Together Auto, came from the wrong side in 2010 when he joined the right side at Love of Jesus Family Church.

He has been washed by the word of God and became a Deacon by 2012, Youth Minister by 2014 and Reverend by 2018.

Rev. Onley loves God, loves God's children, loves God's laws and decrees, and loves God's abundance of Blessings.

Rev. Dwayne can be seen giving  and teaching the word during any of our services, as well as on our YouTube Channel.  He is, also, actively, pouring into our youth by giving direction, Godly advice and encouragement during our

"I Have A Voice" Youth Nights.

Rev. Dwayne is a faithful member of the church along with his wife Deaconess Malindia and children Kennedy, Paityn, Katia & DJ (Dwayne Jr.) Onley.

cHURCH cOVENENT

Having been led as we believe by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, this assembly most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, doctrines, and discipline; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and excellent in our behavior; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale of and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to use our influence to combat the abuse of drugs and the spread of pornography; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.

We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, that we will unite together in eternity.

CHURCH VISION

We as the body of The Love of Jesus Family Church of Newark, The Young Disciples Ministries and the Young Disciples Community Development Corporation touch and agree and believe God to answer the following prayer needs:

Church Building:

  • Parking lot

  • Banquet Hall

  • Church Balcony

Church Body:

  • We pray that each member receives the heart and spirit of our Bishop.

  • We pray that God restore every prodigal son and daughter back to the ministry.

  • We pray that each member become committed and faithful tithers and givers.

  • We pray that each member attends Young Disciples Ministries weekly bible study teaching to become stronger in God’s word, so that you may be able to stand during the test of adversity.

  • We pray that God will send millionaires, lawyers, accountants, doctors, professional workers  and business owners (with integrity) that will aide the ministry in building up the kingdom of

      God.

  • We pray that each member abides by the church covenant.

  • We pray for faithful members working in unity and operating in the love of God, living a life

of holiness, compassion, mercy and grace.

Community:

  • We believe in pulling down every demonic stronghold within the community by praying and fasting, in order for the people to find hope again.

  • We pray that each member be mindful of the work needed in this community and put their hands to work in order for the West Ward community to be restored.

  • We pray that each member become foot soldiers and win souls back to Christ.

  • We believe that gang violence and murder (blood shed) on the street would cease.

  • We believe strong holds will be broken within a 50 miles radius and people will come and  surrender their guns and illegal substances to the altar.

Harvest:

  • We believe that the seed of salvation will be sown on souls within this community.

  • We believe that whatever seed each member sow; whether it is financial, salvation, prayer, fasting or assisting a need) will be reaped back (in God’s timing) thousand-fold returned.
